When this article was due,  I was in Long Beach California attending the Spring session of the Representative Assembly.  It is really an honor to represent all of you.  I was pleased to discover that many of you took the time to access the Zoomerang Survey on the AOTA Web Site and that you gave constituent reports for me.  It is much easier to vote the way you want me to when you tell me your opinions on things.  I also received several emails this time and just wanted to let you know that your opinions are very important.

You will soon be getting a report on the list serv detailing how things worked out in the RA and where things are going.  I was quite pleased to see that Oklahoma continues to be on the cutting edge with our decision to align our state association strategic plan with that of the AOTA Vision Implementation.  It is exciting to be able to tell others that we are in the process of having our upcoming conference focused on Continuing with the Vision Process and Advancing the Practice of Occupational Therapy in our state.

This is an exciting time to be an Occupational Therapy Practitioner.  I am so proud to stand with all of you and to represent you on a national level and I want to thank you for allowing me to do this.  I hope you are having a wonderful Spring and are making plans to attend the Continuing Ed event on April 19th.  I hope to see you there.

Suena Olson COTA/L,
Your AOTA Representative.

Hi everyone.

Happy Fall.  Hope you all are having a wonderful fall season.  Backpack Awareness was a great success with the help of the Students from OU.  I hope your efforts were rewarding as well.  Our OOTA Conference was well attended and a Huge Success.  Thanks and Congratulations to everyone involved.

I will be attending the Fall online meeting of the representative from October 23 until November 6.  The topics are up on the governance section of the AOTA Website and Susan Tucker posted the information for you to help with feedback on our OOTA List Serv.  Most of the Topics are housekeeping items for AOTA, such as Bylaws approval and such, but remember your opinion is important to us.

Nominations for AOTA Positions are in full swing.  The positions open are Board of Directors,  WFOT Delegate and Second Delegate, and Alternate OTA Representative.  The Deadline is October 26.  If you would like to run for one of these positions, or know someone who is an AOTA member with the skillsets needed to perform these jobs, please let us know.

Thanks, and Happy Fall.  Suena Olson and Susan Tucker, your AOTA Representatives

By the time you read this I will have been to the AOTA Conference and will be home.  I received record numbers of feedbacks this year to allow me to respond to your positions on the motions set before the Representative Assembly, and want to thank each of you who participated.  This was the first year in which they had a Zoomerang Survey which made it possible to respond directly to AOTA through their website.  I hope you found this a convenient tool and expect it to be offered  regularly in the future.

I continue to hope that you will provide supportive feedback on the issues that come before AOTA and feel the true need to be an active participant in supporting our professional organizations.  As we progress toward our Vision of 2017 I hope we will see our profession truly growing to be what the City on the Hill visualization told us we could be.

I was excited to see how wonderfully Lowe's assisted with the raised flower bed designs and supported Occupational Therapy Month this year.  Congratulations to Mary Isaacson and all who participated in this venture.  I am so proud to be an Occupational Therapy Practitioner from Oklahoma chosen to be your AOTA Representative.  Thank you all.  Suena Olson your AOTA Representative and Susan Tucker Alternate AOTA Representative

If you didn't attend our most recent state conference, you really missed out. We had both the current AOTA Vice President, Florence Clark and the previous AOTA Vice President, Chuck Christiansen as our speakers. We explored the future of Occupational Therapy practice implementing the Vision of 2017 that AOTA has developed. We raised $1604.00 through the silent and live auctions which will be utilized to implement the AOTA Vision for our 100th Anniversary.

Oklahoma is really on the cutting edge of Occupational Therapy Practice with the development of Telepractice and Teleconferencing. I was quite excited to hear that so many of our practitioners felt that AOTA is going the way they feel it should to help us promote a true understanding of Occupational Therapy by the public, the healthcare industry, and our legislators. It is time for all of us to unite and be members of our professional organizations to make this happen. It was truly exciting to hear that we are ahead of most of the other states in shaping our future to drive it where we want it and need it to be.

In the next few weeks, Susan and I will be preparing to participate in the Fall Representative Assembly Meeting. You can review the items that will be considered in the Governance Section of the AOTA website and can get online to participate in the discussions that occur on the RA List Serve. I will be able to vote during this meeting and would appreciate your emails and or phone calls to let me know how you feel about the topics that will be addressed. I hope to hear from many of you.

If you didn't learn anything else at the conference, I hope you learned that it really doesn't take much for your voices to be heard on a national level. You really made an impression on Florence Clark and Chuck Christiansen and they will be watching you. We are so proud to represent you all.
