Occupational Therapy Colleagues,
The OOTA Fiscal year ended June 30, 2007. Therefore our
tax return was due November 15th, 2007 with an optional extension to
February 15, 2008. Our accountant did apply for an extension, but taxes were
filed by Woodrum, Kemendo, Tate & Cuite, PLLC on November 28, 2007. As an
organization exempt from income tax, no tax was payable with the filing of this
return.
I look forward to seeing you all at our quarterly meeting
and continuing education opportunity scheduled on February 2nd both
in OKC and Tulsa.

OOTA: 40 Years Strong, this year’s annual conference speaks
highly of our organization in the past, in the present, and of our potential in
the future. Sharron Sanderson Burgin, one of OOTA’s founders and ongoing
leaders kicked off the conference by sharing with us a worldwide historical
perspective, relating this to health care trends, and then tied this all to the
history of occupational therapy in the state of Oklahoma. I find this all very
inspiring and timely as we are also celebrating Oklahoma’s Centennial and AOTA
celebrates its 100th birthday 10 years from now in the year 2017. (If
you have not had an opportunity to log onto the AOTA web site at
www.aota.org and read our centennial vision, I suggest that you do it, it is
powerful!) As the OOTA Treasurer, I am happy to report that our association is
fiscally sound. I believe that this is due to all of the hard work and support
or our leaders and members, both in the past and in the present. With that said,
I also believe that it is important for us all to reflect on our history,
utilize what we have learned from our experiences, set goals, and actively
proceed forward to take our profession and our state association to the next
level. After all, we are all a part of one of the best professions around!

Occupational Therapy Colleagues,
Our OOTA Membership Drive is well underway. You probably
noticed that OOTA rates were lowered this year in an effort to increase our
membership numbers. Please utilize this opportunity to recruit your colleagues
and friend. The funds that are generated allow us to continue to provide super
benefits to our members, such as the OOTA Annual Conference. Speaking of the
Conference, plans are under way for the annual conference to be held on
September 28th and 29th in which we will further celebrate
40 years of excellence. If you wish to become more involved in our
organization, the conference is a great opportunity, just let one of the board
members know.

Occupational Therapy Colleagues,
Plans are under way for the annual conference to be held on
September 28th and 29th at the Tulsa Community College.
As preparations are made, the budget will be considered such that we offer an
exciting and dynamic program, yet we will also be sensitive and fiscally
responsible in our spending of the association’s money. If you wish to become
more involved in our organization, the conference is a great opportunity, just
let one of the board members know.
